Nittardi Riserva Selezionata is only produced in the best years. This selection is grown on a south-facing hillside, Vigna Alta, at an altitude of almost 500 metres. This meditation wine combines the best aspects of the Nittardi terroir with the philosophy of our oenologist Carlo Ferrini.

Internationally renowned wine guides such as Gambero Rosso, Vini d’Italia, Decanter and Wine Spectator regularly award Nittardi Riserva top marks. The 2011 and 2013 vintages received 3 red glasses from Gambero Rosso!

Description

Name: Nittardi Riserva Selezionata Chianti Classico DOCG

Grape variety: Sangiovese 93%, Merlot 7%

Alcohol: 13.5%

Soil: Deep soil with abundant stone and clay structure, on a south-facing hill

Vines per hectare: 6,600

Production: Fermentation in 10.5 t stainless steel tanks, followed by 24 months of ageing in French tonneaux, 6 months in cement vats and
9 months of bottle ageing.

Profile: Dark ruby red with an intense nose of blueberries, black cherries, ripe blackberries and garrigue shrubs with spicy notes. Medium palate with elegant tannins and balanced acidity. The 2016 vintage is still a fairly young wine that should be drunk from 2021 at the earliest. Pairs excellently with Tuscan cuisine, meat dishes, roast lamb, wild boar, ossobuco, serve at 16-18°C
(uncork 2 hours before serving).
