Our delicious delicacies in the NATALE gourmet box are also wonderfully matched by the new Vinsanto that I recently discovered at the Grignanello estate in our immediate vicinity: the 2014 Vinsanto “Passione di Grignanello” from 50-year-old Trebbiano and Malvasia vines.

Vinsanto is the most precious of all Tuscan wines, has always been a wine of friendship, courtesy and human connection. It is a demi-sec wine, created from grapes air-dried for three months, then aged for four years in terracotta amphorae.

The colour has a sunny amber hue, the aroma is pure and aromatic like the air in the forest after a summer storm. And the Vin Santo is warm on the palate and in the stomach, very gentle and soft it delights us in small, bulbous glasses, where there is still room to dip a sweet biscuit from Loison.
